ending strong
So, on Tuesday when I was so excited about my mileage for the week, I may have been jumping the gun. I didn’t anticipate yesterday. I set out on my usual run through the cemetery (after much protesting) and everything seemed to fall apart. The heel of my shoes filled up with packed snow and ice, so that every few dozen steps I’d have to stop and scrape them on the road and/or dig out the snow with a stick. After three-quarters of a mile and about the 6th time cleaning out my shoes, my ipod had some kind of seizure and stopped working. Then I had a major bladder dilemma. Running just wasn’t working. I hobbled my way home as fast as I could while “holding it”.
Since I didn’t get any miles in yesterday, I have today and tomorrow to get the remainder of my 10 miles in. This morning KT and I did a great 3-miler. It was cold, but I’m really starting to enjoy the early morning runs. It’s nice to run through town without having to worry about traffic or anything else. Not many people other are up at that time, so it feels like the whole town belongs to us.
So now, I have 7 miles to run tomorrow. I’m still trying to decide if I want to split it between a morning and evening run, or if I want to do a long run in the afternoon. Hmmm, what to do…
On another note…Tonight for supper, I made a delicious African Sweet Potato Stew. It’s got peanut butter and cilantro. Two of my favorite flavors. Quick and easy. I love that I can put it all in the pot and clean up while its cooking. So by the time it’s ready to eat, the kitchen looks like it was never touched.
Now, I am going to go to sleep early so that I can end this week strong and meet my mileage goals.
