the week’s end: 19 weeks to go

I’m trying to get down in writing last week’s workout information before I totally forget it.  Especially since I just finished my long run for this week.  Don’t want to get all my numbers mixed up…

This week:
Sunday: 12 miles & Insanity
Monday: oops…rest?
Tuesday: 8 miles & Insanity
Wednesday: 5 miles & Insanity
Thursday: 7 miles & Insanity
Friday: 4 miles & Insanity

Total Mileage: 36

Now, to be completely fair and honest, I did do Insanity this week, but according to the schedule it was my “recovery” week for that particular program.  Their prescribed recovery week includes doing a “Cardio Core and Balance” dvd each day.  I missed Monday.  Oops.

Truth be told, I’m a little worried.  I’ve talked to several people who’ve done the Insanity program before, some multiple times, and they say that the second month feels like starting back at square one.  The intervals increase by 50% and therefore the overall workout is longer.  So, this comes at a time where I’m also building up my mileage…perfect.

Basically, I just got done running 15 miles in a mild blizzard and now I’m supposed to pull myself together enough to do 45 minutes with Sean T.  Hmmmm.  We’ll see if that happens.  I really do want to stick to the program.  I have been curious about plyometrics and specifically the Insanity program and I feel like I can’t really formulate a complete opinion unless I’ve followed their instructions.  I have already noticed some marked improvement in my core strength, hip strength and overall leg power all of which I believe will help me stay injury free.  So, yeah.  I’m going to do it…I just might complain about it more…

So I have two more weeks until Christmas Break!  I’m so excited!!!

I can’t believe you’re writing about Insanity. I just tried the Fit Test (one of my friends let me borrow it) and I thought I was going to DIE. I didn’t even finish the test. How the heck do you do it?

  • Erin says:

Hmm, that makes me nervous to try it. You are in insane shape and I think that Sean T might laugh at me during a fit test!!!

PS–I am super stinking jealous of your mild blizzard. Beats our flurries any day!

do it. keep doing it. you’ve done it this long. just stick with it. im still hurt & they tell me that if i strengthen the muscles in my but and core, i will get more power and decrease the slamming of my foot. great week girl! keep it up!

Yes! Gotta love teaching and being off for the holidays! I have been so curious about insanity. I love plyo but definitely don’t do it enough. 19 weeks until Boston?? Cannot believe it!

  • Running and insanity!! Dang! look out Boston!

  • How in the world are you doing insanity after a 15 miler. You are my hero! I can’t believe that the intervals increase 50% WOW!!! I have two more weeks until break also! Wahoo!

    Awesome job this week! :)
If you don’t mind me asking, what is this “Insanity” of which you speak?

And kudos for doing 15 in the crazy weather! You rock!!!

  • Hmmm…maybe consider continuing what you’re already doing with the insanity. It’s still a kick ass workout…even the beginning stages of it. And since you’re running big miles, it would give you time and energy to focus on that. **I AM NOT AN EXPERT** so take what I say with a grain of salt ;)

You are SO dedicated to cross training. That’s the one element I really need to pick up. I used to weight lift, but haven’t been able to do much lately because the school took away my priveleges (insurance issue). I am almost considering getting some weights off craigslist. Anyhow, strength training is definitely helpful.

We must have the same crappy treadmill, lol! Actually, I am sure yours is newer than mine. Mine has a dial for speed and a button for incline, but no grade %…The site I linked to has his workout+lots of people’s questions/comments. maybe someone else asked the same thing. I am pretty sure it’s a road grade equivalent.

BOO to insomnia! I took something to go to sleep last night and got 8 hours for the first time in months….But I won’t get into the habit. 19 weeks is TOO close! I don’t have a plan yet, are you doing PFitz?

  • ERG says:

    Ha! I had to re-sign in. :P

  • G says:

    i just started insanity too!

  • Erin says:

Nice! Solid mileage right there! :) I wish I could be running 30 mile weeks… le sigh… the life of an injury. I hope to see you in Boston after these next 19 weeks!
