snow day!

Yes, I love snow days EVEN MORE now that I’m a teacher!  It is always exciting to get up, check the computer, and have the option to go right back to be.  And that’s exactly what I did.  Because I was so super productive yesterday with my cleaning, I had very few chores left over to do today.  Which meant…I got to have a true day off.  Ok, so maybe I did some emailing and various other things for work….but it really was just a relaxing lazy day.

My Boston training officially starts this week!  Because the training starts on a Monday (rest day–nailed it!) I decided to skip my long run yesterday [gasp].  I know.  Originally I had  a 15 miler scheduled, but since I did that mileage last week, I thought it would be ok to take another day off.  I wish I could say that I enjoyed it, but unplanned rest days have a tendency to make me nervous.  All day today I kept thinking, “you know, I could go get those miles done now.”  I resisted, but just barely.

I had almost resolved myself to skip my Insanity today and go to bed feeling lazy…but Mr. Dawn knows me better than I know myself and “encouraged” me to get it done.  I did…and he was right.  I feel much better going to bed having accomplished something today.

I’m getting nervous.

We leave at the end of the week.  We’ll be in 4 different states over the course of two weeks.  Will I stick to my plan?  I’ve added all my mileage to my google calendar, and tried to space it out so that it will have the greatest likelihood of actually getting done.   Now, I just need to do it.  Thank goodness for such a supportive husband who will be with me every step of the way (LOVE HIM)!

Go Team Christmas Training!

Anyone else worried about training through the holidays?  It keeps me up at night….

Not too worried about training through the holidays as long as I can pick a plan!!
I am having a terrible time deciding :/

You’ll do great through the vacation.

  • If I was traveling I would definitely be worried about sticking to my exercise but since we will be home it should be fine. It sounds like you have a plan in place and an awesome hubby who will make sure you stick to it…you will do great! :)

  • Keri says:

Yes! Which is why I am not starting until January :) You will be fine though.

I’m sure you’ll do great with your training through the holidays! I always worry about mine a little but not too much. We don’t travel far so it’s not that tough to get workouts in That’s cool that you had a snow day! When my school has snow days, I have to report anyway (I work at a residential school as a social worker so the kids still need staff at their house!). We are supposed to get some flurries today… I’m sorta excited.

Random: I don’t know if you have an iPhone or an iPod touch but I found a really cool snowboard app yesterday called “iTrailMap” and you should check it out (I promise, I don’t get royalties!).

  • You’re going to do great! You’ve got the commitment, and you’ve got blog readers that you’ll have to answer to if you get lazy ;)

I miss snow days!!! There is a woman I work with who lives nearby and she goes to work NO MATTER WHAT so even when it’s awful I know I have to go in or I look bad. No fair. :P

Have a great vacation and good luck with the Christmas Training!

Yay for a snow day! I’m sure you will nail your vacation training, you are so dedicated. I, on the other hand, am glad that my Fargo training does not start until mid-January. :)

Hooray for the snow day! CO is totally dry and warm this year! I’m talkin’ 50s and blue skies. I miss the snow! Except, I hope it doesn’t hit on the drive back to the mid west (it’s too funny that I’m driving to MI and OH, and you’re coming out west). I am a little nervous about getting my workouts done, but the idea of eating a ton and NOT working out scares me enough to know I outta get my runs in.

Woot for Boston training! I will live vicariously thru you this year!

Hope you get all your miles in over the holiday season-thats a lot of traveling! Since I homeschool, we dont need to have snow days, so we instead of ‘spring’ days when the weather is just too awesome to stay indoors =)

I love snowdays! If only I had them more often. I’m definitely jealous of teachers for that reason! :)

This will be the first year that I’ve actually trained for a marathon through Christmas. Even though I’ve done spring marathons in the past, I’ve just started training the first week in Jan. It makes it easier. But this year my marathon is earlier, so I had to start training already. It’s definitely making me nervous about fitting the runs in. I know that when I’m with my family, that’s the most important thing. And I can’t really be relied on to run Christmas Eve/Christmas Day. So…with that in mind, I’ve already told myself that I need to relax and not stress over it. I’m going to try my best to stick with the plan, but if I don’t, it’s not the end of the world. I’m early enough in my training cycle that it’s not going to do any irreversible harm.

This is what I TELL myself…let’s see if I actually listen to it ;) Good luck with all your traveling and the training!

I saw you comment on ElktonRunner. I will now commence to stalk you because you are a Switchfoot fan from the days of the trio. You are now my best friend.

I used to love love love snow days when I was teaching! :) Good luck with your travels and Boston training. How exciting. I always liked having something to train for during the holidays to keep me from turning into a big cookie but it is crazy trying to fit it all in with the travel and plans sometimes. Good luck!
