about me

Hi.  I’m “the dawn”.  A math teacher, runner, wife, 30-something woman who loves going to Jazzercise, hiking in the woods, snowboarding and backpacking.  The spirit of adventure lives in me and I call Oregon, Alaska, Ohio, Kansas, Nebraska, Vermont, and Michigan my home states.  Healthful balanced living is very important to me and I have been a vegetarian all my life.  I love learning how to cook healthy food that people enjoy eating.

I love to read and learn.  My home is filled with shelves and shelves of books about various topics ranging from leadership development to marriage and family.  I love books that make me think and evaluate how I think.  I don’t read novels very often.  However, I do love to listen to classics while I run.  Jane Austin and C.S. Lewis audiobooks have gotten me through many seasons of training.

Writing is not something that comes naturally to me.  I have always been intimidated by the process of putting thoughts onto paper.  Mainly because there is never an end to the editing process.  Things can always be tweaked to better convey the thoughts behind the words.  Perhaps that’s why I always gravitated towards math.  With math, you know when the process is over.  Once you get to the right answer, without breaking any of the rules, you’re done.  Even if there is a better way to do it, you don’t have to go back and change anything.  As long as you got the right answer.  Done.

Currently I am training for marathon #6–the BOSTON MARATHON!  That is the main topic of this site, although don’t be surprised if I stray off topic every now and then.  I started running 6 years ago and I cannot wait to stand at the starting line in Hopkinton!
